Today we’d like to introduce you to William Thompson and Tapasya “Tappy” Cheulkar.
Hi William and Tapasya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
William: Books Beats Box (3BX) all started from one idea: If modern technology can improve how we eat, live and work, why not use it to improve how we entertain, play and interact with one another?
There are concierge services for everything today. I can get food brought to my door, vacation home rentals on-demand, and personal chauffeurs can bring me wherever I want to go at any time — all with just a few taps on my smartphone.
The next step in this “on-demand” evolution must focus on creatives. That’s why it’s our goal to give creative talent full control of their performance schedule and give their fans the ability customize their exposure to art music and daily reads — all inside of a convenient application.
I’ve enjoyed creating all my life. Through experimenting with sketch art, music, and writing, I began to understand the complex steps creators have to go through to get their craft in front of fans who want to support them.
For instance, while collaborating with other artists in music while I was in the military, I saw the passion behind creating the music. For the creators, myself included, their passion could only take them so far. While it typically translated to some attention and views, little to no sales came out of their hard work.
When I was introduced to the author/artist’s scene after writing my first comic book and informative novel, I witnessed the same pattern. Authors have so much unharnessed drive and motivation to create and still disconnected remain from their fan base, or their potential fan base.
Some might gain a niche following on social media, but it comes at a price. Harmful ownership agreements force creatives to relinquish many of the rights that they might not be willing to let go of (some might not even be aware of how much a typical social media user agreement is taking from them). Additionally, in the age of “Instagram Models” and “Influencers,” many artists with true raw talent are eaten by algorithms that favor other, less unique types of material.
Let’s place creators in a convenient universe with their fans… and let them interact without any other distractions.
Tappy: Hello! I’m Tapasya Cheulkar, the Co-founder and co-CEO at Books Beats Box (3BX) Inc. I hold an MBA in Information Science and Finance and have worn many hats throughout my career, allowing me to diversify my experience and acquire multiple skills in a short period.
My ultimate career objective is to establish a business that benefits the community. I am passionate about helping others and have volunteered with various non-profit organizations. Our platform, 3BX, helps creators find their passion and excel as artists by building a community of independent creators.
From the very first day, I met William Thompson, the founder of 3BX, we clicked immediately. Our combined efforts and expertise have contributed to the establishment of the exceptional 3BX team we have today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
William: Hindsight being 20/20 at this point, I can say everything happened for a reason. With anything new, it requires you to make changes to how you used to do things. Your success depends on how willing you are to make that change which, for some, creates the struggle.
My struggles were the same struggles as any founder of a start-up business might face, which is familiar to creatives too. Literally every artist, author, and musician are start-up founder themselves — looking for fans to invest in their company.
Fans are looking for the best talent to represent their lifestyle brand.
This is where 3BX helps fans and creatives to connect
Tappy: It was a challenging start, but we managed to handle everything with diligence and precision. As we progressed, we were fortunate enough to encounter a few exceptional consultants, advisors, and team members who contributed their knowledge and abilities to our cause, making our journey smoother.
Initially, I efficiently assisted William with all the necessary requirements of our company, such as arranging the company address, establishing a workspace for seamless communication among members, and providing essential tools for the development process. My background in product design allowed me to identify these needs quickly and enabled our design team to start working without any delays.
Simultaneously, I ensured that a workspace and project management tools were available for members to collaborate on. Furthermore, I meticulously gathered all the essential sources, planned for future problems, and formulated solutions to promptly resolve them, including financial issues. My expertise in Information Science and Finance proved to be invaluable in overcoming the startup challenges that we faced.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was establishing the development for 3BX. Luckily, we had Antoni, an exceptional Product Design lead, who kept the design up-to-date. We then collaborated with Aj Tu, Richard Lopez, and Dr. P, who took control of the development and helped us meet our set deadlines by enlisting their reliable developers.
During our product development life cycle, we encountered challenges in the finance and marketing aspects. It is imperative to address these issues promptly to avoid further delays during the launch and maximize traction on our platform. Kathryn Litton-Ruggiero and Anthony Lobaito for marketing, as well as Tjani Gomez for finance, came to our aid in resolving these challenges.
Thanks – So what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
William: My work is Books Beats Box and everything 3BX represents. We are known for creating a “one-stop-shop” social/professional networking and marketing app for independent artists, authors, and musicians to collaborate with the best talent in all genres of creativity.
We specialize in providing fans with the newest sights, sounds, and reads available. This is a platform for indie art, book and music junkies as much as it is for the Indies themselves. Get on 3BX and find the next big name before they become even bigger and actually be part of building that base from the bottom.
Just think: what if you followed and collected the work of a young superstar in their earlier years? What if your contribution actually helped to shape how they express their work to the world?
We are proud to offer this unique experience to our fans and artists and a community exclusive to fans and artists on a highly interactive and engaging platform is what’s sets us apart from the rest
Tappy: In my role as Co-CEO, I have significant responsibility for steering the company toward success. This includes making crucial decisions that will have a lasting impact, overseeing day-to-day operations, and charting a course for the future. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding position, and I take it very seriously. I’m often known as the silent achiever who works tirelessly behind the scenes to get things done.
Based on my previous experience working with other startups, it’s imperative to understand what it takes for a startup to succeed. This understanding starts with the founders, as our attitude towards the members of our 3BX team defines why they continue to believe in our vision. Without a clear vision, it becomes a significant challenge for a startup to keep its team motivated. With William’s help, I was able to put it into practice and see results which is something I am proud of.
I firmly believe in treating all team members equally. If a teammate requires additional assistance, I am always willing to roll up my sleeves and lend a hand. I am a motivated individual who is always eager to help and get things done.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
William: Am I a risk taker?
Not at all — when I commit to something, I go in with the thought of success on the other end. There is simply no risk because there is only one outcome in mind.
When it comes to showing the world something new, your biggest “risk” is that people won’t understand because there is no precedent. So, anything you do that changes the world around you is inherently a risk.
That’s why I just follow my creative voice, that genius inside. If you follow your voice, you are not taking a risk you are showing true confidence in self.
Tappy: Startups involve risk, but taking risks is often necessary for success. We all face a learning curve, and we won’t grow unless we take risks. As a student on a work permit, I am took that chance with 3BX, the next social marketing platform. I am not doing this due to unrealistic expectations, but because I believe in the vision for Books Beats Box and have seen how far our team has come. And we won’t stop here.
It is important to note that taking risks can often lead to significant investments and ultimately, greater rewards. So remember, don’t shy away from taking chances but do your due diligence as they may just lead you to the sweeter fruits of success.
