Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Rhodes. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Crystal Rhodes, Aaron Cuthrell, and Michael (Mike) Miller initially formed bonds through their work as Baltimore City educators and Mike’s involvement as a Regional Director with Primerica. Mike would later serve as a business coach to Crystal and Aaron. In 2014, Crystal and Aaron decided to use their passion for teaching to develop a summer camp and childcare services for youth in Baltimore City. Throughout the program development phase, Crystal and Aaron consistently sought Mike’s guidance and feedback on how to successfully build a business. Magic Minds, Inc. was formed and Crystal and Aaron welcomed Mike as a Director and owner.
We wanted to use our collective experiences to positively impact youth and help them retain and enhance their academic capabilities over the summer. As educators, we each have experience with classroom management and curriculum development. Magic Minds, Inc. currently offers a variety of services, including Before and After-school childcare services and an Academic Summer Camp with certified teachers. Previously, we offered virtual tutoring services (Academic Rewind). We set ourselves apart from other providers by focusing on the importance of social skills and addressing learning gaps. Since our inception, we have serviced over 1600 students and we continue to expand our reach with 7 locations (Baltimore City and Elkridge).
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Starting a business comes with challenges. Unfortunately, we suffered a major loss with the passing of our friend, Magic Minds, Inc. Director and owner, Aaron Cuthrell. We strive to honor him with the work we do daily.
The pandemic was extremely challenging as we had to pivot and rethink our business strategy. We consistently strategize ways to enhance our services, obtain new partnerships and reach new audiences.

Magic Minds, Inc. is a Baltimore-based organization offering Before and After-school childcare services and an Academic Summer Camp for youth in Grades Pre-k – 8.
As the world strives to return to a sense of normalcy from the Pandemic and educators aim to recover lost educational opportunities, many children are still striving to regain their focus and academic rigor. As educators, we understand the critical role schools play in the development of our youth. Magic Minds’ goal is to provide extracurricular experiences that merge academic achievement, social skills, and unforgettable enjoyment to all students participating in its programs.
Our programs are developed with care and the highest educational standards which ultimately ensure positive academic and social transformation of the minds of young children.
