Today we’d like to introduce you to Stepheney Omolasho.
Hi Stepheney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I named Lolah’s place after the name my grandmother called me “Lola”. I have owned several businesses under this name since 2012 such as; clothing, jewelry, human hair, and a wine store. One thing I have personally appreciated like every other lady is having my hair styled to perfection, not like I’m a perfectionist but good hair makes you look clean which is very necessary for everyone.
This all started from pre-k through high school, where my mom made sure I had my corn rows and other styles done neatly because I wasn’t allowed to carry human hair to school as an African “if you know what I mean.” It was a natural look. When I got into college, I chose my style, I got myself new and affordable weaves, I noticed the longevity of the hair and I saved more to buy quality. I would make my wigs by hand as installs were quite expensive and on good and rich days I would go to the salon to have them installed to learn and see how they use their equipment on my wigs I started these processes the same way and also watched more videos.
In 2014, I started with just 50 remy bundles and closures from China, I sold them in pieces, and 2016, I ordered a few more bundles, I made the wigs and sold them to a couple of friends and families and of course, I got some good and bad feedbacks. I went on to practice on my free days. In 2018, my friend who also happened to be my housemate, had this hair she had gotten and wasn’t sewn properly, I decided to take it down and put it back on wig.
It took me a couple of days but it came out so beautiful.
On September 19, 2019, I decided to register my business in Maryland, USA. 2020 came and boom it was Covid, my 9–5 job was slow so I decided to do hair full time, I invested 90% of my savings into better equipment, a sewing machine, and inventory(Chinese, Brazilian, Cambodian, and Vietnamese bundles and closures& frontals). I am self-taught in wigging, bleaching, and coloring. I would sew by hand because the machine was a little harder but your girl cracked the trick.
In 2021, I got better with the sewing machine, I learned wig sizing, and did better with Glueless wigs. That same year 2021, I officially launched my hair products and accessories to help hair installation easier. On March 5th, 2022, I launched my website, and I had my hair campaign that same year. I had my very first 5days flash sales in 2022 on bob wigs. Why Bob Wigs? This is a type of wig that is a must have for every woman regardless of age, easy to maintain, and perfect for summer.
Year 2023, I decided to be INTENTIONAL with my business as I do have a bigger dream I need to bring to reality by God’s grace. My business currently accepts, credit card payments, buy now pay in install, zelle, cash app, and PayPal. This year, I have decided to sell strictly Vietnamese Virgin & donor hair and Indian hair. It has been God throughout the journey. And to my supportive clients, thank you for trusting and believing in my growth!
I hope to service my future and current clients with nothing but the best with CLASS!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No! It has not. Satisfying people is not easy but as a business owner that’s all I thrive to do. I make sure I ask my clients how they want their wigs, give my opinion and we come to a conclusion.
I send them videos on how to maintain their wigs, if there are errors I am willing to take them back for repairs. I make sure I state the does on don’t. So far, I would say it still not a smooth road but my client’s satisfaction comes first so I will keep thriving to keep up with that.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lolah’s Place. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Lolah’s place is a registered business in the USA. I sell wigs, bundles, closures, frontals and hair products & accessories. I also offer to revamp service. I am popularly known for the quality of my hair and the services I provide.
My wigging is second to none; I have had clients tell me how much they de-taste wig bands and how discomforting it is but I was able to convince them.
As earlier stated; I offer wig revamp and reconstruction. I offer wig styling. I also have bundle deals, closures, and frontals for your sew-in with your hair stylists.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I enjoy everything about my business, the exposure, the clients, and the fact that it’s beauty related. So, I do not have any dislikes because it’s something I have always loved to do, though I get paid for my services.
I have plans to win and help more clients achieve their dream look and confidence in and out of my city as I currently ship as far as Australia. I am really excited to reach more beautiful souls all over the world.
