Conversations with Nate Lucas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Lucas.

Nate Lucas

Hi Nate, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Nate Lucas. My story begins far back with my music career taking a pause and the pandemic. I am a rapper/producer by the stage name of TRIP STAR. I needed to bring in new revenue streams to adapt to a rapidly changing world and a global crisis. I was faced with ups and downs throughout that time. Before the pandemic I was having success as a rapper performing and getting features from big acts.

This led me to venture into starting my own business. During the pandemic, I created an online store LLC named My Team Collectibles. With this store, I wanted to build and operate the whole business alongside my partner Cheyenne (Chy). This business was designed to be a home-based business that delivered collectibles within the jurisdiction as well as shipping. My Team Collectibles sells Pokémon & Sports cards and graded collectibles as well as anime and Funko products. This led to me getting my LLC and building an online store from scratch while maintaining the inventory’s organization both physical and digital. I created my logo to keep everything cheaper at start-up. I also put our business up on Google soon after.

Fast forward about a year and a half later, I found myself wanting to start another business. This made me go to the drawing board and take a look at any skills I had to see if they can make me additional income. Then it hit me… I COULD SELL WEB DESIGN SERVICES AND OFFER LOGOS AS A SIDE SERVICE!!! I began to offer my services on my social media and landed my first few clients at the same time. Coming into Web and Graphic design I now had work to showcase with the way I handled my own online business. I did a few free sites for family and a friend I owed money to at the time LOL. I also built my site since I was a rapper. Over time I recruited a small team and added a diverse line of services. We also added a virtual assistant to the niche. As a kid, there were times when I didn’t have much and had to build off of pure creativity. The beauty of Asterisk Web Design services is just that. I was able to make new income in the music scene with album covers, web design, admin virtual assistant services, and more.

As a musician, Asterisk Web Design Services became the team handling my digital affairs. I created a service that is built for people who know what it is like to start from the bottom. My team at Asterisk Web Design Services consists solely of entrepreneurs who own their businesses. My team is excellent because we are very relatable to anyone who loves their hustle. Our clients often get more than their money’s worth.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The ups and downs of the pandemic and the collectibles market put pressure on me at times because people’s money would fluctuate and at this time, I was still doing work cheap to increase my portfolio.

The amount of money I was re-investing into my businesses dwindled. I had to ride the storm out but eventually, things started to balance out. Web Design started picking up and we were able to get things going with collectibles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an entrepreneur of multiple trades. I work for myself and do freelance work as well.

I am proud of the fact that my music career created a nonprofit charitable organization that did a lot for kids and those less fortunate. I am also proud that I hit rock bottom and had to bounce back.

What does success mean to you?
Success is progress that can only be measured by one’s self.
