Life & Work with Thomas Jasmine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Jasmine.

Thomas Jasmine

Thomas, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am Thomas Jasmine, also known as Sole or SoleDidIt—a DJ, Audio Engineer, and Videographer. My love for music began in elementary school, but it flourished during high school under the mentorship of my inspiring Music Teacher, Antony Pinder. In college at North Carolina State University, I delved deeper into my passions and found the support to pursue my creative ideas. DJing became my forte, and I was able to make a pretty good name for myself by deejaying campus events.

After transferring to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, I obtained a B.A. in Music Technology, and I embraced the roles of an Audio Engineer and Videographer, which opened doors to exciting opportunities. I recorded and supported talented local artists, became the Official DJ for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, and even had the chance to open for renowned artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Dababy, D.R.A.M., and Wale. Throughout my journey spanning more than a decade, I’ve thrived on sharing music with diverse audiences and nurturing fellow artists in expressing their stories and art.

Today, I continue to push the boundaries of my craft and stay deeply involved in the music and entertainment scene. My passion for music and media goes hand in hand with my desire to uplift and collaborate with other artists. The journey is ongoing, and I eagerly look forward to what the future holds as I remain dedicated to the world of creativity and entertainment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From a young age, my life was shaped by the presence of my siblings, each facing unique challenges. Both my twin brothers were autistic, and my older sister became paraplegic after graduating high school. These experiences, though difficult for my family, instilled in me a profound sense of compassion and empathy.

This deep-rooted compassion fuels my unwavering commitment to helping others achieve their dreams, particularly those who may not have the same opportunities I’ve been fortunate to have. Moreover, it ignites a burning passion to provide for my father and uphold the legacy left behind by my mother, driving me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those around me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart from others in my field is my unwavering commitment to ensuring that everyone I interact with feels positive energy and a sense of fulfillment during their experience with me. My creativity knows no bounds, taking me to various locations across the country, from the DMV area to North Carolina, Louisiana, New York, Tennessee, California, and beyond.

I take great pride in infusing every project I undertake with positive and determined energy, dedicating myself wholeheartedly to the greater good of the outcome. My passion for what I do drives me to deliver exceptional results and leave a lasting impact on everyone involved. I am known for creating memorable and immersive experiences, whether it’s through my DJ sets or my meticulously crafted audiovisual productions. One thing that I am most proud of is that during Black History Month I create content to shed light on historical figures that people don’t know about in a series I currently call #SoleSegments. It has been going on for the past 3 years and has amassed over 300,000 views across social media platforms.

Ultimately, I believe it is my genuine and enthusiastic approach that distinguishes me from others. I’m not just focused on the technical aspects of my craft; I aim to forge genuine connections and leave a positive impression on every individual I encounter. It is this commitment to spreading positivity and elevating the creative experience that I am most proud of and continue to strive for in all my endeavors.
