Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Warren.
Hi Tabitha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been an entrepreneur since a young girl. I grew up braiding people’s hair in my neighborhood for money.
So early on, I knew I wanted to work for myself in the beauty industry. As I got older, I realized I loved fashion just as much. Around the age of 22, I decided that I wanted to be a fashion stylist and make that my career.
From there, I did my research, joined online classes from a few notable industry stylists, and it’s been all work since then.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, it hasn’t been smooth at all, because although I’ve taken online classes, etc. I feel that I still live in a place where fashion stylist isn’t a thing you know.
Most of any job is better to learn hands-on, so finding work sometimes could be difficult without representation/an agency.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do wardrobe/fashion styling. Although I can say that I’m a well-rounded stylist, I feel that I specialize in minimalist Style. I am most proud of my ability to keep going no matter what obstacles have been in my way.
My ability to stay inspired, and motivated. What sets me apart is my vision. I’m not just a fashion stylist. I’m a visionary. I don’t just put clothes on my clients. I consider every aspect of their lives. I’m an image consultant so to speak.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
You know starting as an entrepreneur without much money, you have to find a way to make a living. So when I left my banking job in 2018, I started an online boutique for women. I’ve worked on a few BET network movies and did a spread with FASHION BOMB DAILY.
That was major for a girl who grew up in the hood with 10+ siblings. I’m here to put my mother’s last name on as many things as possible before she leaves this earth. It has been a journey for sure. I am still learning it all, but I am making my way. I’m happy to see where the business will take me as I continue to stay focused and put the work in.
