Meet Jordan Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Holmes.

Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I became aware of myself as an individual who’s not only capable of igniting love on mass levels to my outer world but also to myself at around age 18. The discovery and self-awareness heightened the businesses that I already started at 16 years old. Jimani Units LLC is a hair business that I started at 16 years old at the brink of the pandemic. Jimani Luv is my artistic name which includes my musical history, songs, videos, and connections via song. I started singing at an extremely young age due to growing up in a Christian family the “James Family” singers.

They are a group consisting of 15-25 African American singers, musicians, and instrumentalists hailing from Princess Anne, MD. Being raised in an environment of song contributed greatly to my musical talents. My mother and father raised me to be loving and giving with as much as my heart was physically capable of which ignited my passion for servicing others. Through my self-discovery and the trials that I’ve faced being a young woman in this world, I have cultivated an environment of love and light for my clientele which consist of 45-60 women from all walks of life through being personable, accepting, and kind.

I started a non-profit with my best friend Shaddai Gray in the year 2022 titled “YANA” meaning “you are not alone”. The concept formed one day in my mind when I was doing breathwork behind my parents home looking at the trees and feeling the wind on my face. As someone who’s experienced depression and anxiety, I know what it feels like to truly feel alone in this life and the non-profit provides everyone who crosses paths with us to know that they are within a community of love just by being alive on this plane we call the world.

We provide book bags filled with non-perishable foods, water, clothing, toiletries, and shelter resources to the homeless in the D.M.V. area. To conclude this glimpse into the story of my life, I would like for you all reading this to know that your mind is the teller of all, and with that being said… always ask yourself why and run with your discovery to cultivate your desires.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have experienced domestic violence, self-doubt, self-sabotage, bullying, sexual assault, and a list of other things that may break some. Life hasn’t been easy for anyone in our way we all struggle. The most important thing about this life is that we have access to choices.

My response to all that I’ve faced as well as what I’ve put myself through consistently shows up as love. I choose to love despite all things and that’s what keeps me surrendering to God every day of my life and that surrender allows me to surpass my vision and consistently seek the truth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a lover before anything. I am a singer second. I am a service provider third. I provide hairstyling services in Waldorf, MD under my business name “Jimani Units LLC”. I provide braiding, extensions, loc styling, and more. I specialize in providing an experience that leaves one feeling new and ready to take on higher heights (as seen in my reviews via StyleSeat). I also sing anywhere directly from my heart and my mind.

This voice isn’t subject to one state but all over the world as well my songs that have been played from Africa to Russia. I also have a non-profit with my best friend Shaddai Gray (as mentioned previously) which provides homeless people with book bags filled with all their needs to strive further and get back to the lives that they desire. I am most proud of my growth for someone that’s only 20… I have accomplished and conquered myself and that followed great things.

My ability to do things that scare me sets me apart from a lot of people in my age group and generation. I also think my credit score is higher than 78% of 20-year-olds haha (that’s a funny joke so laugh). Shout out to Brigit (a green app) for keeping me grounded in being in the 700s, *wink wink*.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Supposedly my mom said I use to be shy but all I can recall is being awkward to others and funny to my friends. I’ve always been the one to showcase who I am at my core regardless of status, environment, or how I’m perceived by others.

I have been loud, I have been quiet, I have been funny, I have been sad, I have been happy, I have been joyous, I have been a goody goody, and I have been a rebellious little butthead. There was no in-between I would classify my younger self as the little engine that could.
