Today we’d like to introduce you to Mady Zbignewich.
Hi Mady, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I come from 3 generations of hairdressers. I grew up hanging out in my mom’s salon and always had the best time. When I was in high school, I went to the Carroll County Career & Tech Center, where I learned very quickly this was the career for me. After I graduated high school, I went to work for Haircuttery, where I learned so much. I put myself through any additional hair education I could find. After working at Haircuttery for 5 years, I decided to open my business and contract out of The Hairport and go into educating hairstylist. My passion for hair has always been there, but my passion for taking care of people and making them feel so beautiful is truly the best part.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. Being in the hair industry can be very stressful at times, and trying please each and every client can be hard. But with taking educational classes can help the hard times.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a hairstylist that specializes in blondes, but truly love any kind of hair service. I am known for my coloring skills and making my clients feel heard and comfortable in each visit. There are 2 things I am most proud of: 1- in 2022; I became a Redken Artist to be able to travel and provide education for stylist. I also substitute at the Tech Center, where I started out. It is a full-circle moment for me to be able to go back there and help teach the new stylist and show them how awesome this industry is. 2- I am so proud of myself for the relationships I have built with each of my guest. I genuinely love seeing them and having a unique relationship with my guest.
What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing the smile on my client’s face when I transform their hair into their dream hair. Nothing feels better when you see the happiness on their face and the confidence boost immediately.
